Legacy Center Foundation Teen Leadership
Throughout my life, I’ve always just followed what everyone else was doing. When I did Legacy Center Foundation’s Teen Leadership, Program many things changed for me. I realized that I don’t need to follow the crowd. Following the crowd it not what life is about. There isn’t any point in trying to be like everyone else, we are all unique anyway. Before Legacy Center Teen Leadership, I had self-image problems. I do still sometimes have problems with my image, but I have become much more confident. I’m no longer afraid to say how I feel, and I don’t follow what the crowd is always doing. Because of my experiences in Legacy Center Teen Leadership, I have grown a tremendous amount as a perso
After completing Legacy Center Teen Leadership (TL), I gave back by staffing the program. Staffing TL was amazing. It’s a great feeling knowing I’ve made an impact on someone else’s life. I really enjoyed watching some of the kids come through Teen Leadership and watch how they changed from the beginning to the end. Staffing Teen Leadership is a phenomenal experience, and make’s me excited for the kids in the program and their future. Knowing they left feeling good and confident is great. ♥
For me, the most valuable parts of Legacy Center Foundation Teen Leadership was when I got clear on who I get to be in the world. It was like I had the chance to start over. That is now what I live my life by. I now have choice. I am a strong, passionate, beautiful, caring, young woman. Whenever I feel unsure or nervous about something, I have choice about who I am and who I am is the first thing that pops into my mind. It calms me. If I ever feel lost I now have tools to get me connected to who I really am in the world.♥

The Teen Leadership program was THE best program I have ever been to.
All of the staff are the best people in the world, and they care about the teens just like they are their own children!
The program is very amazing and safe and I think that every teen should be in this program!!

I had 10 parents and students come in on a Saturday morning to shift the entire library. By enrolling these parents in my vision for the library they saw where we were going and in three hours most of a 3000 book library was shifted. Now several of the parents are coming back on Monday to read shelves and organize the materials. I have a team of parents who support the library and so much more was accomplished than if I had been a lone ranger and attempted to work on this alone.
Also we are beginning a mentoring program with the high school students this year. Per IDEA all special education students are required to have a written transition plan once they reach 16. We will be having the students create vision boards and map out where they want to be in 10 years so that they can set goals to get there. I see how that task in the teen training can be modified and used for all 60 of our high school students. Other amazing projects.
One of the teens in this video just finished her first year of teaching elementary school. One of her children, who, in previous years, had not passed end of grade tests, passed w/ flying colors this year–against all odds. When asked what worked, this teen-turned-amazing woman said “I believed in him.” Teen leaders learn to bring out the very best in each other!
